Medieval Christmas Market at the Rhine Falls 2026

A medieval Christmas market on both sides of the Rhine Falls, at Schloss Laufen in the canton of Zurich and Schlössli Wörth in the canton of Schaffhausen. A ferry and walking route link the two market sites. Traders, craftspeople, musicians, performers, storytellers and medieval activities welcome families, while Hungarian vendor magyarenfrass confirms it will serve lángos and kürtős. Opening hours are Friday 17:00–22:00, Saturday 10:00–22:00 and Sunday 10:00–17:00. Entry to both markets is free, while some activities and the ferry require payment. The outdoor event takes place in all weather. Leashed dogs are allowed. Display weapons are permitted, while sharpened weapons are prohibited except for medieval table knives. Both market grounds are generally accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs. On the Schloss Laufen side, the boat landing is reached only by stairs, so wheelchair users cannot board the ferry there. Arrival by train at Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall is recommended; parking is free after 18:00.
